How to create a new module

This short manual will explain how to create a new module from start. 

Start  DNN KickStart

 

You need to select the menu Module,New to create a new Module

 This opens the basic module screen. In this screen you can modify or change data to customize your module. We will not do this now. 

 On the fields tab you can add, delete or change the fields you need in your module.

 On the controls tab you can indicate how to display your data, in a grid, list or other controls.

 On the tab output you can indicate in which language you want to create your module. C# and VB are supported.

 In this screen you can add views for your module. In this way you can create different screens for different roles wihtin your portal.

 Click on the menu Tool, Export package to create a complete zip file that contains everything to deploy your module.

 A check will be done to guarantee if all items needed are correctly entered.

 Click Yes to create to module package in to a zip file.

Your zip file is created and can be quickly reached by clicking the Package button.

This will open the file explorer right on to the folder where your generated zip file is located.

 

 Also a backup copy of the generated zip file is created. This ensures you that if you regenerate your module, you still have the old files in a backup.

This zip file can be uploaded to your website.
